Rockcote Clearcote

Rockcote Clearcote is a clear acrylic finish developed to provide added resistance against water ingress, mould and grime pick up and retention over the complete range of Rockcote finishes. Rockcote Clearcote provides the selected texture with improved performance characteristics, while retaining an aesthetic appeal.

PERFORMANCE AND PROPERTIES

Rockcote Clearcote provides a highly water repellent and mould resistant surface when applied over the finer texture finishes. A second coat increases the level of protection and adds a higher sheen to the finish, as well as improving the durability of the total system.

Limitations

Rockcote Clearcote is not recommended for floors and despite its water repellent effect, is not suitable for areas totally immersed in water.

Rockcote Clearcote is unsuitable for use as a clear finish over exterior timber.

APPLICATION

• The base texture coat must be suitably dry with a moisture reading of less than 15% WME and free from mould, loose particles, grime or other surface contaminants.
• Rockcote Clearcote is applied evenly as possible by brush, roller or spray equipment, ensuring complete coverage. Where two coats are required, allow a minimum of 4 hours between applications. Multiple thin coats are preferred to a single heavy build application.
• Rockcote Clearcote appears milky white when wet. This appearance can facilitate even application as areas of higher build appear whiter than lower build areas when wet.
• For the best results Clearcote should be applied as evenly as possible . Special care should be taken on building corners, join lines at scaffold drops and cut in areas where an excessive build up of Clearcote may occur . After application with a medium nap roller it is important to tip off Clearcote with a short nap roller to an even appearance.

Care should be taken not to apply too much Clearcote on cut-in areas. An 80mm wide roller of low or medium nap pile should be used for cutting in. This should be used in preference to a brush on highly textured surfaces such as Sandcote where a roller is also used on the main wall surface. The application of Rockcote Clearcote is a specialist procedure and should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.

STORAGE, SAFETY & HANDLING

• Pails should not be stacked more than three high during transportation and should be stored out of direct sunlight and above 4 o C.
• Wear protective clothing to minimise skin contact and wear goggles where spatter is like
• Avoid inhalation of mist or vapour and prolonged skin contact and particularly eye contact.
• If skin contact occurs, flush thoroughly with clean water.
• In the case of Clearcote, if ingestion occurs, drink at least two glasses of water and consult a doctor.
• Where spills occur, soak up liquid spillage with sand or sawdust before disposal.
• Clean up equipment and area with water. Do not permit run-off to sewer, storm water or open bodies of water.
