Rockcote ConcoteRockcote Concote is a ready mixed, pre-coloured acrylic coating ideal for covering and decorating, suitably prepared masonry surfaces such as;
Rockcote Concote effectively combines the aesthetically pleasing colours and styles of traditional render finishes and limewashes with the performance properties of modern acrylic coating systems. COMPOSITIONComposed of a high performance pure acrylic binder containing finely graded quartz sand and durable colour pigments. Powerful mould and fungus inhibitors are also incorporated in this product. PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIESWater ResistanceRockcote Concote provides a water repellent, crack resistant finish. Concote also remains vapour permeable, allowing the walls to “breathe”. AdhesionRockcote Concote will adhere well to all properly prepared building substrates and is especially suitable for difficult surfaces such as high density concrete, A.A.C., polystyrene or previously painted surfaces that would normally present a problem for traditional cement renders. FlexibilityThe highly flexible nature of Rockcote Concote will allow for normal movement of the substrate without affecting the coating. Colours AvailableRockcote Concote can be tinted to a wide range of colours from soft natural tones to vibrant colours. FinishesDepending on application techniques and tools used Rockcote Concote can be worked to a number of traditional yet highly fashionable finishes. For example, “crowsfoot” or “bagged” finishes can easily replicate Mediterranean style finishes. Ease of ApplicationRockcote Concote is supplied to the building site premixed in plastic pails. Colour can be incorporated at the factory or added on site. The material is mixed to exact specifications in the factory and is simply applied to the wall directly from the pail. APPLICATIONSurface Preparation & ApplicationSurfaces should be clean, dry and free from oil, grease, form release agents or loose or crumbling material. Concrete Block & Brick Walls(where mortar joints and other imperfections need to be concealed) Rockcote Skimcote or Quick Render should be applied according to manufacturers specifications and left as a wood float finish. A coat of Rockcote AE Primer or Texprime is then applied prior to the application of the final finish. This is then followed by 1 coat of Rockcote Concote applied by spray or roller. The finish may be left “off the gun” or a desired pattern can be achieved by use of a broom, coarse brush or similar whilst the coating is still wet. Smooth Surfaces(previously rendered masonry, off-form concrete or cement sheeting) Apply one coat of Rockcote AE Primer or Texprime followed by one coat of Rockcote Concote as described above. The application of Rockcote Concote is a specialist procedure & should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator in accordance with our technical specifications. COVERAGECoverage rates may vary according to the condition of the substrate, desired finish or method of application. Rockcote Concote is usually applied at the rate of approx. 25 – 30 square metres per 15 litre drum (0.5 – 0.6 L per m 2). Care must be taken to avoid excessive build-up in corners and at reveals. Rockcote AE Primer or Texprime is applied to the surface at a rate of approximately 5 square metres per litre (75 square metres per 15 litre drum).
