EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat - People Safe Paint

Rockcote EcoStyle Acrylic Sealer is a premium quality, water-borne sealer and undercoat that is quick drying, user friendly and environmentally friendly.

EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat is suitable for interior and exterior application and is an emulsion based product providing maximum adhesion to most correctly prepared surfaces.

This ultra low V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compound) paint is ideal for users who are health conscious and concerned about environmental air pollution and indoor air quality.

Areas painted with EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat have no lingering paint fumes.

EcoStyle Sealer Undercoat is made from high grade components and has a level of volume solids comparable to top-coat paints. It provides excellent hold-out for intermediate and top coats.

EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat provides excellent opacity when applied as directed.

Composition

Rockcote EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat is composed of special new-generation binder not requiring solvents with titanium dioxide pigment and quality mineral extenders.

Typical Uses

EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat is suitable for use on cement sheet, plasterboard, hardboard, timber, brick, block, concrete and solid plaster.

Surface Preparation

Brick, Block, Cement, Fibro- cement

Ensure the surface is free from loose material. Use a wire brush or scraping tool to remove peeling, flaking or loose material.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from release agents, oil and grease. Use a mixture of biodegradable detergent and warm water to clean. Flush all cleaned surfaces with clean water and allow to fully dry. Patch and fill holes and cracks with Rockcote Smooth Sanding Patch.

Remove all mould, mildew or fungi and treat these areas with diluted bleach at (1:10) mixture and then clean with a proprietary antifungal and algal wash with residual activity. Ensure that any new cement or concrete is fully cured and that the substrate moisture content is 15% WME or lower before painting.

Apply one or more coats of EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat.

Previously Painted

Ensure the surface is free from loose material. Use a wire brush or scraping tool to remove peeling, flaking or loose material.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from release agents, oil and grease. Use a mixture of biodegradable detergent and warm water to clean. Flush all cleaned surfaces with clean water where there is no risk of water damage. Allow to fully dry before painting.

Sand any non porous surfaces such as glossy painted areas. Patch and fill holes and cracks with Rockcote Smooth Sanding Patch.

Remove all mould, mildew or fungi and treat these areas with diluted bleach at (1:10) mixture and then clean with a proprietary antifungal and algal wash with residual activity. Ensure that any new cement or concrete is fully cured and that the substrate moisture content is 15% WME or lower before painting.

Apply one or more coats of EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat.

Plaster Board (Paper Covered)

Ensure the surface is free from loose material. Wipe down to ensure the surface is clean, dry and dust free. Patch and fill holes and cracks with Rockcote Smooth Sanding Patch. Do not sand the paper face of plasterboard. Apply one or more coats of EcoStyle Sealer Undercoat.

* Ecostyle Sealer/Undercoat contains no added raw materials classified as VOCs under APAS (Australian Paint Approval Scheme) guidelines; however there are small amounts of residual VOC in the paint due to residual VOC content in some of the raw materials used.

Not suitable for use on oily hardwoods. Ensure the surface is free from loose material. Sand to remove loose material and provide a smooth surface for painting. Do not sand hardboard.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt oil and grease. Use a mixture of biodegradable detergent and warm water to lightly clean but do not allow timber to become saturated or heavily wet.

Sand any non porous surfaces such as glossy or sealed timber. Patch and fill holes and cracks with Rockcote Smooth Sanding Patch.

Apply one or more coats of EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat and lightly sand each coat back when dry before applying EcoStyle finish coats. Exterior timber should have two coats of EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat.

Application

Thoroughly stir contents before use. EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat can be applied by brush, roller or spray. EcoStyle Sealer/Undercoat goes on with a minimum of roller spatter. Do not apply if the temperature is below 3 0 C or is likely to fall below 3 0 C when drying.

Limitations

• Not for use over powdery unbound or loose surfaces.
• Not suitable for areas that may be submerged in water or subject to continual damp.
• Not suitable for use over oily hardwoods

Proper Disposal of excess & waste product

• If you can't use your leftover paint give it to someone who can. Consider giving your paint to friends and neighbours or local community groups such as Scouts or charity groups undertaking community work.
• Residual small amounts of leftover paint on brushes and rollers should be wiped onto old newspaper and allowed to dry rather than being washed down the sink.
• Residual paint in the pail should be allowed to dry before disposal. Dried paint films should be disposed of in normal rubbish bins.
• Dried EcoStyle paint will not stick to the plastic pails it is sold in, so dried paint in the pail can normally be peeled off and the pail can be used for another use such as storing fishing tackle or garden tools. The pails are also approved for recycling by most municipal councils in Australia.
• Eco Style Paint is suitable for disposal through the RA Industries Reclaimer Portable Paint Wash Recycling System.
