Rockcote Hard Patch

Rockcote Hard Patch is a two component, water borne, patching compound designed for patching holes, form joints and imperfections in concrete or masonry walls. It is suitable for both internal and external applications. Rockcote Hard Patch may be applied to a thickness of up to approximately 25 mm, or feathered out to approx 0.7mm.

PERFORMANCE and PROPERTIES

Rockcote Hard Patch may be used to fill joints and large imperfections in cement sheeting, EPS, tilt slabs and block walls.

Limitations
  • Do not use in areas subject to continual damp or fully submerged surfaces.
  • Do not use over wet substrates with a moisture level of 15% WME or greater.
  • Do not use when substrate temperature is below 4 OC or likely to fall below 4 OC during drying.
  • Do not use to fill very fine imperfections less than 0.7mm deep. Dry cured Hard Patch is not sandable or suitable for use as a fine finish.
Surface Preparation

Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from oil, grease, form release agents, powdery or crumbling material.

Mixing and Application

Hard Patch must be mixed with 3 litres of lump free Portland Cement powder conforming to Australian Standard 3972, per 15L of patching compound.

Do not add water until after cement is fully mixed in to patching compound . Do not add more than 10% water by volume. Once mixed with cement, the pot life is approximately 2 hours. Do not use cement activated Hard Patch that has been mixed for longer than 2 hours.

Rockcote Hard Patch is applied using either a trowel or spatula. For joins, a first coat should be trowelled into joins then 160gms/m 2 alkaline resistant mesh non-adhesive tape should be laid whilst the compound is still wet. A second coat should be applied after the first coat is touch dry. For general patching, imperfections should be filled with Hard Patch and the edges feathered out. Hard Patch can not be sanded, so it should be finished when wet or for a higher standard of finish apply Smooth Sanding Patch over cured Hard Patch.

Drying

Rockcote Hard patch normally dries within 24hours when applied at a thickness range of 0.7-10mm and at temperatures between 20 OC and 35 OC

Rockcote Hard Patch may take up to 48 hours to dry when applied at thicknesses greater than 10mm or if applied in cool temperatures below 20 0C. Pot life is approximately 2 hours at 25 OC. Pot life will decrease with warmer ambient temperatures and increase with cooler ambient temperatures.

PACKAGING

Rockcote Hard Patch is supplied in 15 litre heavy duty plastic pails. Smaller sizes are available on request.
