Rockcote Polyfine

Rockcote Polyfine is thin section flexible render for difficult substrates. Suitable for HardiTex Cement Sheeting .

Also suitable for: -

  • Previously Painted Surfaces
  • Concrete Blocks & Bricks (where only a thin section render is required]
  • Dense Smooth Concrete
  • A.A.C. – Hebel Blocks & Panels
  • Plasterboard

A pre-mixed single component rendering material supplied ready for use in plastic pails. This product is designed to be used as a thin section render or patching compound over difficult substrates such as previously painted masonry, off-form concrete, A.A.C. [Hebel panels or blocks] & cement sheeting. These substrates were either not suitable for normal cement render or could only be rendered with great difficulty &/or expense with unreliable results. Rockcote Polyfine can be applied in a thin section over such substrates providing an attractive rendered finish with guaranteed performance.

COMPOSITION

Rockcote Polyfine is mainly composed of specially selected graded quartz sand with a pure acrylic binder system. A powerful fungicide is incorporated to inhibit the growth of mould & fungi.

PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIES

Modern construction methods & materials require certain properties, which cannot be achieved with standard or even modified cement renders.

Adhesion & Flexibility

The most important properties required are, adhesion to smooth dense or highly porous substrates, and flexibility & compatibility with finishing coats that are predominantly acrylic based. It must also be considered that modern construction components are typically manufactured to much closer tolerances, eliminating the need for heavy render coatings.

Economical

Rockcote Polyfine can provide an economical & attractive rendered finish with an applied wet thickness of between 1 - 4mm. Polyfine is completely free from both lime & cement, providing a stable impermeable substrate, which will greatly extend the life of all acrylic topcoats whether they are standard paints or textured finishes.

Low Suction

Due to the low suction characteristics of Polyfine, the surface should not require sealing or priming prior to the application of paints or textured finishes.

Limitations

Rockcote Polyfine is not suitable for areas that are submerged or subjected to continual damp. It should only be applied to a maximum thickness of approx. 4mm. Polyfine should not be applied in temperatures less than 5 ° C or higher than 35 ° C or in high wind conditions.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation

All surfaces should be clean, dry & free from grease, oil or laitance & any loose material scraped back to a firm base before applying a coat of Rockcote Masonry Primer at the rate of approx. 6 - 8 square metres per litre. Deeper holes or deviations can be filled flush with Rockcote Skimcote & allowed to dry prior to the application of the Polyfine.

The Polyfine may be trowelled on to the surface in one or two applications & finished with a plastic or polystyrene float for a smooth finish or a sponge finish, achieved by rubbing the surface with a soft sponge.
