PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIES

Adhesion

Rockcote Render Paint Flat exhibits excellent adhesion to all common building materials if correct surface preparation is carried out in accordance with Rockcote specifications.

Durability

Render Paint Flat is decorative finish and will only offer protection for highly stable substrates. Underlying Armour and Texture coatings are required to provide flexible protection for building surfaces.

Colours Available

Rockcote Render Paint Flat can be tinted to a wide range of colours from soft natural tones to deeper colours. Light-fastness of chosen exterior colours must be confirmed before ordering. Bright saturated and very dark colours are not available in Render Paint Flat.

Limitations

Rockcote Render Paint Flat is not recommended for floors, and is not suitable for areas that will be totally submerged in water. Render Paint Flat is not recommended for extreme marine environments or for unstable substrates such as poor quality Site Mixed Render.

Render Paint flat is not suitable high wear areas such as handrails, outdoor furniture or roofs.

Render Paint Flat is unsuitable for use on timber.

Flat paints tend to pick up more dirt than low Sheen or Glossy surfaces and it is important to clean the exterior surfaces painted with Render Paint Flat regularly. See Rockcote data sheet on General Maintenance.

Surface Preparation

Glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded and washed clean.

Dirty surfaces should be washed down with warm water mixed with detergent and flushed with clean water.

Mould should be removed by cleaning and surfaces treated with a proprietary surface sanitiser with residual action. Fill cracks and other surface imperfections with suitable Rockcote patching compounds.

Substrates must contain less than 15% Wood-Moisture-Equivalent (%WME) before painting.

Rockcote Cement based renders can be coated 48 hours after drying. Other new cementitious surfaces should not be coated until 30 days old.

APPLICATION

Rockcote Render Paint Flat is applied to the properly prepared substrate using brush, or roller. A minimum of two coats should be applied, allowing at least 4 hours drying time between coats.
