Rockcote Santa Fe

Rockcote Santa Fe Render is a high performance pigmented acrylic based render suitable for reproducing the colour effects & styles of traditional rendered finishes.

Based on a unique blend of naturally occurring fine quartz aggregate, Rockcote Santa Fe Render is ideal for reproducing traditional rendered, mud plastered or sandstone style finishes, while providing performance characteristics compatible with modern construction methods & materials. Rockcote Santa Fe Render is suitable for coating masonry substrates such as bricks, blocks or concrete. The excellent adhesive properties & highly flexible nature of the finish make it an ideal choice for providing a rendered finish over more difficult substrates such as cement sheet, A.A.C. lightweight concrete [Hebel blocks or panels], high density concrete or polystyrene.

COMPOSITION

The aesthetic appeal & excellent trowelling properties of Santa Fe Render are a result of the unique quartz sand used in its manufacture. Utilising a pure acrylic binder & high quality titanium dioxide pigments, Rockcote Santa Fe Render will provide a flexible, long life, weather resistant finish for masonry walls. A powerful fungicide is included in the formulation to guard against the formation of mould & fungi.

PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIES

Designed to be used as a finishing coat, Rockcote Santa Fe Render is applied to a thickness of between 1 & 3mm, enabling surfaces such as concrete or cement sheeting, over which traditional cement renders are both expensive & unreliable, to be finished economically with a guaranteed result.

Rockcote Santa Fe Render may be used as a one coat application over suitably prepared substrates [see below for surface preparation procedures]. The natural look achieved is both aesthetically pleasing & more economical than painted finishes. If a more even finish with a greater degree of protection is required, Santa Fe Render can be over coated with Rockcote Armour flat.

For increased weather protection & dirt resistance, along with a higher gloss level, the system may include an application of Rockcote’s standard Armour to provide a membrane finish.

Adhesion

Rockcote Santa Fe Render has excellent adhesive properties, even over difficult substrates such as dense concrete, cement sheeting or A.A.C.

Flexibility

Rockcote Santa Fe Render provides a much more flexible coating than can be achieved using conventional cement renders.

Water Resistance

Rockcote Santa Fe Render will provide a crack resistant, water repellent barrier, resistant to the ingress of rainwater while remaining vapour permeable, allowing the building to “breathe”.

Natural Colours

Rockcote Santa Fe Render may be tinted to a wide range of colours, including strong vibrant tones, & is particularly suitable for soft natural colours where the patterned nature of the finish creates similar effects to natural stone or clay surfaces.

Ease of Application

Rockcote Santa Fe Render is supplied to the building site in sealed 15 litre plastic containers pre-mixed & coloured ready for use.

SURFACE PREPARATION
Bricks & Blockwork

Apply Rockcote Quick Render to achieve an even wood float finish before applying a coat of Rockcote High Opacity Primer at the rate of 6 - 8 square metres per litre. The Primer should be tinted to approximately the colour of the finish coat.

Concrete

Holes, form joints & other imperfections should be filled flush, using Rockcote Coarse Patch before priming as above.

APPLICATION
  • Rockcote Santa Fe Render is trowelled over the properly prepared surface in a single application using a stainless steel trowel.
  • The coating is normally applied to a thickness of approx. 1mm. To achieve the characteristic rendered finish, the surface is floated with a plastic trowel.
  • Various textured effects can be achieved by finishing the surface with a trowel, polystyrene float or soft sponge. A wet edge should be maintained throughout the application, & day joints formed at corners, expansion joints or mouldings where they will not be evident in the finish.
  • Finished work must be protected from severe weather conditions for 48 hours after application, & protected from damage until the completion of the project.

The application of Rockcote Santa Fe is a specialist procedure, & should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.

PACKAGING

Rockcote Santa Fe Render is supplied in 15 litre heavy duty plastic pails. Smaller sizes are available on request.

* As Rockcote Santa Fe is manufactured from natural mineral sands, some variation in colour may occur from batch to batch. Therefore, material should be ordered in job lots, and material from later batches restricted to separate areas where colour differences will not be noticed. If a more even colour is desired & for an increased level of gloss or improved dirt resistance, Santa Fe Render must be over-coated with Rockcote Armour, or to retain the natural look of Santa Fe Render, while improving dirt resistance, overcoat with Rockcote Clearcote.

STORAGE, SAFETY & HANDLING

Refer to Rockcote’s MSDS for Santa Fe
  • Pails should not be stacked more than two high during transportation and should be stored out of direct sunlight and above 4 ° C.
  • When working with Rockcote Santa Fe, observe the usual precautions for handling cement & water acrylic based products.
  • Avoid inhalation of the powder or vapour, prolonged skin contact, and particularly eye contact.
  • If contact occurs, flush thoroughly with clean water.
  • In the case of Santa Fe, if ingestion occurs, drink at least 2 glasses of water and consult a doctor.
  • Wear protective clothing to minimise skin contact, and wear goggles where splatter is likely.
  • Where spills occur, soak up liquid spillage with sand/sawdust and dispose of in a sensible manner.
  • Clean up equipment and area with water. Do not permit run-off to sewer, storm water or open bodies of water.
COVERAGE

Coverage may vary according to the condition of the substrate, desired finish or method of application. Rockcote Santa Fe Render is usually applied at the rate of 12 – 15 square metres per 15 litre drum.

Indemnity

Rockcote Enterprises Pty Ltd will not accept responsibility for any misuse of this product if not applied by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.
