Rockcote SantiniRockcote Santini is a ready mixed, pre-coloured acrylic coating ideal for covering and decorating, suitably prepared masonry surfaces such as;
Rockcote Santini effectively combines the aesthetically pleasing colours and styles of traditional render finishes with the performance properties of modern acrylic coating systems. Depending on application techniques and tools used Rockcote Santini can be worked to a number of traditional yet highly fashionable finishes such as “bagged” or Mediterranean style. PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIESAdhesionRockcote Santini will adhere well to all properly prepared building substrates and is especially suitable for difficult surfaces such as high density concrete, A.A.C., polystyrene or previously painted surfaces that would normally present a problem for traditional cement renders. DurabilityThe highly flexible nature of Rockcote Santini will allow for normal movement of the substrate without affecting the coating. Rockcote Santini provides a water repellent, crack resistant finish. Santini also remains vapour permeable, allowing the walls to “breathe”. Colours AvailableRockcote Santini can be tinted to a wide range of colours from soft natural tones to vibrant colours. Tendency to fade of chosen exterior colours must be confirmed before ordering. Surface PreparationAll surfaces should be clean and free from loose material such as drummy sections and flaking paint. Powdery surfaces should not be painted with Rockcote Santini. Glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded and washed clean. Dirty surfaces should be washed down with warm water mixed with detergent and flushed with clean water. Mould should removed by cleaning and surfaces treated with a proprietary surface sanitiser with residual action. Only dry surfaces should be painted. Fill cracks and other surface imperfections with suitable Rockcote patching compounds. Substrates must contain less than 15% Wood-Moisture-Equivalent (%WME) before painting. Rockcote pre-bagged Cement based renders can be coated 48 hours after drying. Other new cementitious surfaces should not be coated until 30 days old. ApplicationConcrete Block & Brick Walls(where mortar joints and other imperfections need to be concealed) Rockcote Skimcote or Quick Render should be applied according to Rockcotes' specifications and left as a float finish. A coat of Rockcote Masonry Primer or Texprime is then applied prior to the application of the final finish. If a substrate efflorescence barrier is required use Rockcote Anti efflorescence Primer. This is then followed by one or more coats of Rockcote Santini applied by Trowel or Hand Bagging Mitt. Other finishes may be achieved by use of a coarse brush or similar tool whilst the coating is still wet. Smooth Surfaces(previously rendered masonry, off-form concrete or cement sheeting) Apply one coat of Rockcote Masonry Primer or Texprime followed by one coat of Rockcote Santini as described above. LimitationsApplication should not be carried out in temperatures below 5 ° C or above 35 ° C or in strong winds. Do not allow freshly applied Santini coatings to be subject to freezing conditions or rain for 48 hours after application. The application of Rockcote Santini is a specialist procedure and should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator. Rockcote Santini is unsuitable for total water immersion or for use on floors. STORAGE, SAFETY & HANDLINGRefer to Rockcote's MSDS for Santini
