Rockcote Spraystone

Rockcote Spraystone is a heavy bodied, applied finish suitable for the decoration and protection of all masonry walls and ceilings. Consisting of ground marble and stone chips bound in a highly durable resin, Rockcote Spraystone is suitable for full exterior and interior application and provides a natural stone finish featuring the colours of the selected aggregate.

COMPOSITION

Rockcote Spraystone is based on a 100% acrylic binding system specifically developed for its high UV and water resistance. The excellent clarity of the pure acrylic binder enhances the natural beauty of the selected marble and granite aggregate. A powerful fungicide is incorporated to inhibit the growth of mould and fungi.

PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIES

Rockcote Spraystone is a flexible, long lasting, hard wearing coating that recreates the natural beauty of stone.

Colour Range

A wide variety of colours can be achieved through blending of the different coloured marble and stone chips. As natural marble and granite is used, the colours will not fade or bleach.

It is important to note that as colours change from different areas of the quarry where the natural stone is found, all materials for a project should be ordered at one time, as subsequent batches may vary slightly in colour. Rockcote cannot accept responsibility for colour variances if this ordering procedure is not observed.

Limitations

Rockcote Spraystone is not suitable for floors or fully submerged areas. The colour range is restricted to the available aggregate.

SURFACE PREPARATION

All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from form release oil, grease or loose material. As some Spraystone is slightly translucent, the surface must be primed to an even colour, sympathetic to the colour of the Spraystone finish.

Concrete

Form joints & other surface imperfections should be patched using Rockcote Skimcote to achieve a flat even finish before application of Rockcote Hi Opacity Primer.

Bricks & Blockwork

Brick & block walls should be rendered using either Rockcote Skimcote or Rockcote Quick Render to achieve a straight flat surface before applying the Rockcote Hi Opacity Primer & Spraystone Finish.

APPLICATION
  • Rockcote Spraystone is sprayed onto the surface using suitable spray equipment at a recommended rate of 2½ - 3 litres per square metre, depending on the required pattern. The material must be sprayed in an even, uniform manner, working from the top to the bottom of the wall without allowing any “cold joints”. Day joints must be formed at corners or incorporated into the design of the wall.
  • The profile and texture of the finish is determined by the spray technique employed by the applicator.
  • For a very smooth finish the sprayed coating can be trowelled flat using a stainless steel trowel within minutes of spray application. In good drying conditions Rockcote Spraystone will take approximately 48 hours to cure.
  • The surface must be sealed by applying a coat of Rockcote Armour Clear applied with a brush, roller or spray equipment at the rate of approx. 7 square metres per litre.
Finished work must be protected from rain, dust and adverse weather conditions for a period of 48 hours after application.

The application of Rockcote Spraystone is a specialist procedure & should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.

COVERAGE

Rockcote Spraystone covers approximately 4 - 6 square metres per 15 litre drum.
