Rockcote Spraytile

Rockcote Spraytile is an extremely durable, multi-texture acrylic coating compound suitable for providing an attractive finish for masonry surfaces. Available in a wide range of colours and textures, Rockcote Spraytile may be applied by roller, trowel, or spray gun.

Spraytile is particularly suitable for providing an economical sprayed finish to tilt up or formed concrete walls. For improved performance Rockcote Spraytile has been designed to be over-coated with Rockcote Armour or Armour Clear to complete this durable, low maintenance system.

COMPOSITION

Composed mainly of finely graded quartz sand in a water base pure acrylic binder with Titanium Dioxide pigment and a powerful fungicide. Durable pigments are added to achieve the desired colour.

PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIES
Adhesion

Rockcote Spraytile will adhere well to all properly prepared building substrates including high density concrete, A.A.C. (autoclave aerated concrete).

Water Resistance

Rockcote Spraytile provides a water repellent, crack resistant finish. Spraytile also remains vapour permeable, thus allowing the wall to “breathe” permitting moisture trapped within the substrate or inside the building to migrate outwards through the coating.

Flexibility

The highly flexible nature of Spraytile will allow for normal movement of the substrate without affecting the coating.

Low Maintenance

Rockcote Spraytile over-coated with Rockcote Armour provides a low maintenance finish resistant to excessive dirt pick up and the growth of mould or fungus.

Wide Colour Range

Rockcote Spraytile can be tinted to a wide range of colours using UV stable pigments to ensure long term colour retention.

Ease of Application

Rockcote Spraytile is supplied to the building site pre-mixed in 15 litre plastic pails. Colour can be incorporated at the factory or added on site. The material is mixed to exact specifications in the factory and can be stirred prior to use and applied straight from the pail. It can be “splattered” using suitable spray equipment, or rolled onto the walls.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Surface Preparation

All surfaces should clean, dry and free from loose or crumbling material, oil or form release agents. Small imperfections and formwork joints can be filled with Rockcote Hard Patch and/or Smooth Sanding Patch. Larger imperfections are filled with or the entire surface rendered using Rockcote Skimcote or Quick Render. (Refer to specification sheet on Rockcote Skimcote or Quick Render for more detailed information on preparation of brick or block walls, or Coarse Patch/Fibre Patch sheet for preparation procedures for cement sheeting). The moisture level of the substrate must be less than 15% WME before coating.

APPLICATION

A number of decorative effects can be achieved by using either roller or spray equipment.

A wet edge should be maintained throughout the application and day joints formed at corner, expansion joints or mouldings where they will not be evident in the finish.

Finished work must be protected from severe weather conditions for 48 hours after application and protected from damage until the completion of the project.

The application of Rockcote Spraytile is a specialist procedure and should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.
