Rockcote ToscaniRockcote Toscani is a ready mixed, pre-coloured acrylic coating ideal for covering and decorating suitably prepared interior or exterior surfaces such as:
Rockcote Toscani effectively combines the aesthetically pleasing colours and styles of traditional render finishes and lime washes with the performance properties of modern 100% acrylic coating systems. Depending on application techniques and tools used, Rockcote Toscani can be worked to a number of traditional yet highly fashionable finishes such as “bagged” finishes or Mediterranean style finishes. PERFORMANCE & PROPERTIESAdhesionRockcote Toscani exhibits excellent adhesion to all common building materials if correct surface preparation is carried out in accordance with specifications. DurabilityToscani is knock resistant, scuff resistant and can resist extremes of weather and attack from fungi and mould. Rockcote Toscani provides a water repellent finish that is resistant to micro-cracking caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the substrate. Toscani also remains vapour permeable, allowing the walls to “breathe”. Colours AvailableRockcote Toscani can be tinted to a wide range of colours from soft natural tones to vibrant colours. Light-fastness of chosen exterior colours must be confirmed before ordering. Rockcote Toscani is supplied to the building site premixed in plastic pails. Colour can be incorporated at the factory or added on site. Surface PreparationAll surfaces should be clean and free from loose material such as drummy sections and flaking paint. Powdery surfaces should not be painted with Rockcote Toscani. Glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded and washed clean. Dirty surfaces should be washed down with warm water mixed with detergent and flushed with clean water. Mould should removed by cleaning and surfaces treated with a proprietary surface sanitiser with residual action. Only dry surfaces should be painted. Fill cracks and other surface imperfections with suitable Rockcote patching compounds. Substrates must contain less than 15% Wood-Moisture-Equivalent (%WME) before painting. Rockcote pre-bagged Cement based renders can be coated 48 hours after drying. Other new cementitious surfaces should not be coated until 30 days old. APPLICATIONConcrete Block & Brick Walls(Where mortar joints and other imperfections need to be concealed) Rockcote Skimcote V6 or Quick Render should be applied according to specifications and left as a float finish. A coat of Rockcote Texprime is then applied prior to the application of the final finish. This is then followed by two coats of Rockcote Toscani applied by roller or brush. The desired pattern can be achieved by use of a distemper brush or similar tool whilst the coating is still wet. Smooth Surfaces(Previously rendered masonry, or cement sheeting) Apply one coat of Rockcote Texprime followed by two coats of Rockcote Toscani as described above To obtain a more even effect on uneven masonry surfaces, the first coat of Rockcote Toscani should be replaced by one trowelled coat of Rockcote Polymer Render. LimitationsApplication should not be carried out in temperatures below 5 ° C or above 35 ° C or in strong winds. The application of Rockcote Toscani is a specialist procedure and should only be carried out by a skilled and experienced applicator and in accordance with our technical specifications.
