ROCKCOTE a finalist in prestigious Banksia Sustainability Awards

ROCKCOTE has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious Banksia Awards that recognise sustainable development and practice in Australia.

ROCKCOTE is one of only six finalists in the new category Product Sustainability through design, manufacture and use for our Natural Materials range.

Now in their 26th year, the Banksia Sustainability Awards showcase the best of Australian invention, innovation and ingenuity in the sustainability space.

With more than 250 entries across 13 categories, ROCKCOTE faced tough competition for this year’s Awards with companies such as Lush Cosmetics and Burbank also selected as finalists in the same category.

The category recognises outstanding achievement in improving sustainability through the design, manufacture and commercial application of a product or products. It includes new products as well as improvements in process or design that improve the sustainability of existing products.

ROCKCOTE’s Natural Materials range features interior and exterior architectural coatings suitable for the harsh Australian climate and contemporary architecture, using simple, natural materials. The launch of the range was the culmination of 15 years of work by the company which embraces a unique approach to product development drawing from the enduring creativity of the early artisans.

According to ROCKCOTE Managing Director, Bob Cameron, being selected as a finalist recognises ROCKCOTE’s commitment to sustainability in a business that spans two of the most noxious industries on the planet – cement renders and paints.

“The Natural Materials Range draws on the longest serving building materials that nature has to offer; clay and lime; to create beautiful interior and exterior finishes that don’t compromise our health, the environment or beauty.”

“By returning to these ancient and natural building materials, we offer positive alternatives to poisonous paints and Portland cement for all architectural spaces.”

Mr Cameron said that these Natural Materials would revolutionise our spaces to be safer, healthier, more beautiful and more enjoyable to live and work in.

All products in the range have been developed in Australia and are manufactured at ROCKCOTE’s Yandina, Queensland headquarters. You can learn more about the products in the Natural Materials section of our website.

The winners of the 2014 Banksia Awards will be announced at an event in Sydney on 11 November.
