What’s on trend Caloundra to Rockhampton

ROCKCOTE Sunshine Coast Business Development Manager, Michael Flanagan, has been representing ROCKCOTE across the region for 9 years and says most local builders and applicators see the value in working with a locally owned national company.

Michael (pictured at right with Sales Coordinator Morgan Tindale) works closely with our local distributors and provides samples, specifications and follow-ups on projects of all sizes, supporting architects, builders and applicators from project initiation through to completion.

Michael said ROCKCOTE products Quick Render and Armour have long been a winning combination in this region with its coastal buildings needing added protection from the elements.

"Quick Render and Armour can deliver an attractive and highly protective sponge finish which has been popular in this region for a long time. People are slowly changing to more texture finishes though and we have some very good applicators who have a solid base with products like Sandcote,” Michael said.

The development of the new medical precinct at Birtinya, along with the two new hospitals has seen significant growth in residential developments on the Sunshine Coast over the past 12 months.

"ROCKCOTE has also worked closely with local developer RGD constructions on some of the more notable multi-unit residential projects on the coast including Saltwater and Broadwater at Birtinya and projects at Kawana Island, all of which are ROCKCOTE interior and exterior."

So what’s on trend right now?

EcoStyle interiors

“Low VOC and non toxic paints are becoming more sought after. People are learning more about the benefits of paints that don’t give off toxic fumes or contain harsh chemicals,” Michael says. “People are turning towards our locally manufactured EcoStyle Paints because they have all the performance characteristics of a high quality paint but in a healthy version.”

Smooth finishes, especially the concrete look

“Smooth finishes are big for both interiors and exteriors. For feature walls, around fire places and for entire homes, the polished or smooth concrete look is very popular with architects at the moment. This industrial type look can be achieved with ROCKCOTE natural lime plasters Marrakesh or Venetian Plaster or our Clayset.”

Michael works closely with our local distributors, Lyndons and The Paint Place Noosa to service our customers from Caloundra to Gympie. He also covers the Central Queensland region to Rockhampton. Michael is supported by his Sales Coordinator Morgan (pictured with Michael).
